Noodle News Roundup: April 2026 | Noodle Journey

Here’s all the noteworthy noodle news you may have missed in April 2026. And it looks like April must be a heavy month for noodle makers because there’s a bunch of new product announcements to get through. Read on for all the info I’ve gathered this month!

Nissin x Butterfinger Was BS

Let’s get this one out of the way quickly. At the end of last month’s news post, I questioned whether the Nissin/Butterfinger collaboration was an accidentally-early April Fool’s joke or not. Turns out it was an April Fool’s joke that Nissin decided to publish on March 30th for some odd reason. I don’t know whether I’m relieved or disappointed that it doesn’t exist, but I won’t waste anymore time talking about it.

Momofuku Announces Single Packs

One of the more common complaints about Momofuku noodles (besides the hijinks of their problematic founder) is that the 4-packs are pricy when they’re not on sale, so people are reluctant to try them. Well, if you live near a Sprouts, Momofuku has announced via email that you can now find single packs on sale at Sprouts locations in addition to the new 4-packs. All five current flavors are available as singles: Soy & Scallion, Sweet & Spicy, Sesame Miso, Tingly Chili, and Spicy Soy. The downside is they’re currently priced at $3.99 each, at least at my local Sprouts, which is still ungodly expensive for a single pack of noodles. I guess it’s cheaper than committing to a 4-pack, finding out you don’t like them, and throwing the rest away, but there’s no other reason I’d recommend paying $4 for a single pack of noodles from an American company.

Maruchan Adds New Flavor to Gold Product Line

It always makes me happy to see a new addition to a great product line. Maruchan has just released a Spicy Creamy Chicken as part of their premium Maruchan Gold product line here in the USA. Alongside the Spicy Tonkotsu flavor that came out last year, this makes two flavors I need to review to get caught up with the Maruchan Gold lineup as it currently stands, but I am still a huge fan of Gold Spicy Miso and Gold Soy Sauce. Currently, this appears to have an exclusivity window on Amazon the same as Spicy Tonkotsu originally was, so it will likely be available from other sources in the coming months.

Nongshim Adds Tteokbokki Noodles to Its Lineup

So it appears that this one may have come out prior to April of 2026, but I can’t find any press release or even product page for it, and I only just saw it on Amazon this past month. Nongshim is now selling boxed “Tteokbokki Style Noodles” in a sweet & spicy sauce. What’s a little odd is these aren’t actually tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes) but are rather super-thick wheat noodles that, I guess are supposed to mimic the gauge and thickness of tteokbokki. I’m very curious about this product, but only if I can find it in single-packs in person, because a 10-pack for $43 is a bit too steep for me.

Nongshim Expands Ramyun Chef Retail Availability

I enjoyed three of the four offerings from Nongshim’s Ramyun Chef line, and at the time of that review, I noted that those products were only available from the TikTok shop and Amazon. If you were interested in them but holding out for being able to buy them from a brick-and-mortar store, then worry no more! They’re now available at Kroger stores and all of their sub-brands like Ralphs, Dillons, and Fred Meyer.

Kraft Makes Limited-Time Chicken Ramen Mac & Cheese

Thanks to my friend The Fat Hipster for alerting me to this one. Someone on Reddit spotted Chicken Ramen flavored Kraft Mac & Cheese at their local Jewel-Osco grocery store, which means that most likely this will be carried by all grocery stores owned by Albertson’s. Note that the box says “Limited Edition,” so this is not a permanent addition to the Kraft Mac & Cheese lineup. This is so new that I can’t even find a product page or image of the ingredients on the box yet, but stay tuned to the YouTube channel in case I can hunt this down where I live.

Samyang Makes Buldak Mac & Cheese Now

And finally, speaking of mac & cheese flavors I need to hunt down, Samyang now makes two Buldak Mac n’ Cheese flavors: Sweet Corn and Carbonara. As with so many new finds in the world of instant noodles, a Redditor announced the discovery of these flavors at their local Walmart before any kind of official announcement or product page was made (and as I write this, I still can’t find either a press release or a product page on Samyang’s American website). All I know is these appear to be yet another in a long line of products exclusive to Walmart stores, and every Walmart near me seems to have successfully avoided stocking them. If I find these, a review will happen on the channel. Since there’s still so little information on them, I have no clue if they’re limited-edition or not.
