Noodle Journey Episode 91: Samyang Buldak Habanero Lime

This one may warrant a re-review someday. The experiences I’ve read from others who’ve tried this flavor are all over the place. Some found it not nearly as spicy, some found it way more lime-forward than I did, etc. I don’t know if Samyang has changed this recipe since filming, or perhaps if their habanero pepper supplier has inconsistent heat levels with their peppers, but something is definitely up with this one.

Noodle Journey Episode 90: Samyang Buldak Rosé

Notes since filming:

One of the most-asked questions on Reddit is how this flavor differs from Carbonara. TL;DR Smoky ham/bacon flavor, less spice, and extra creaminess. This being an import version, it also contains real meat extract, which gives the savory flavor a slight boost.

Noodle Journey Unboxing: StyleKorean.com

Shortly after I released this video, StyleKorean slowly began removing all of their noodles and tteokbokki products from their site. They unfortunately don’t sell any food anymore, which is a shame because they had a decent selection.

What doubly hurts is that I had an issue in my house that destroyed some of the stuff from this order that I didn’t get to review right away. 🙁

Noodle Journey Episode 40: Samyang Buldak Corn

Notes since filming: The only Buldak flavor I ever threw in the trash after a couple bites (2x lasted a little longer than that before I tapped out). It wasn’t quite bad enough to make my bottom 5 list, but I didn’t think this was very good. The noodles in here are great, but that powdered pack of corn flavor is a true love-it-or-hate-it addition. There are some people who really enjoy this one and will pair it with fresh elote and cilantro, but I’m content never to eat this one again.

Noodle Journey Episode 30: Samyang Buldak Jjajang

Notes since filming: If you’re looking for a spicy jjajang noodle and found this one to be lacking in flavor, check out Samyang’s Hot Pepper Jjajang instead. I really enjoyed this one at the time, but the Hot Pepper one beats it by a mile.

Noodle Journey Episode 17: Samyang Buldak 2x Spicy Hot Chicken

Notes since filming: At the time of this writing, I think this is still the second-spiciest thing I’ve ever eaten. I couldn’t get through it, and I can’t say my spice tolerance has improved enough since 2022 to eat an entire pack of this. So because of that, I will almost assuredly not be bothering with Buldak 3x, for those of you who were wondering. The people that can eat this without getting too bothered truly impress me.

Noodle Journey Episode 16: Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken

Notes since filming: One of my few regrets on this channel was not reviewing this one in episode 5 instead of the Carbonara flavor. As weird as it might sound, I think trying this base flavor of Buldak first would’ve given me a better context for trying Carbonara, seeing as I was surprised about the smoky curry flavors that are present in a lot of Buldak sauce packets. I liked this one and I acknowledge its important role in noodle history, but I haven’t purchased it since this review because I love some of the other flavors more.
