A super flavorful, less spicy alternative to Shin. I recommend this one a lot for people who are getting into spicier foods but can’t quite handle Shin or Shin Black yet.

Noodle Journey Episode 74: MyKuali Penang White Curry

I really expected to get a lot more flak for not liking this one enough to give it a 10. It’s definitely one of the more top-tier curry flavors out there, but I still wonder if one of the older versions of the recipe was better.

Noodle Journey Episode 73: Paldo Kokomen

Notes since filming:

Definitely a contender for the best chicken noodle soup out there. If Shin Gold isn’t to your liking and you want a spicy chicken broth, give this one a try!

I mentioned it in the video but it bears repeating: the version I reviewed stated that the chicken flavoring was artificial, however it appears that some varieties of this do contain actual chicken broth (through a convoluted process in which chicken is imported into South Korea from the USA, manufactured into its final form in South Korea, then exported back out again). Check the ingredients label for yourself in person if you do not want to consume actual chicken broth.

This is a criminally underrated flavor that I feel gets overlooked because people think it’s a Samyang Buldak knockoff. It’s not; it’s its own thing and it is terrifically spicy and flavorful.

This is the gold standard for mild jjajang (black bean) noodles. If you try this and don’t like it (which is totally cool; it can be an acquired taste), don’t bother with any other jjajangmen because you probably won’t like it.
