Noodle News Roundup: August 2026 | Noodle Journey

Here’s all the noteworthy noodle news you may have missed in August 2026. New flavors from Samyang are the spotlight this month, but there’s also some interesting sales announcements, and some new products my UK readers might spot. Read on for all the details!

Buldak Truffle Lands at Walmart

I swear, I am never going to be caught up with Buldak reviews at this rate! Samyang has released a new Buldak flavor that is currently exclusive to Walmart stores. Check your Walmart app and you just might see that your local Walmart store is stocking the brand-new Buldak Truffle flavor. Described as a rich and savory flavor and a “creamy indulgence” in the stock images, this variety combines the flat Buldak noodle variant with a “spice-level-3” Buldak sauce and a truffle oil. And when I say “truffle oil,” I mean the artificial stuff – don’t expect anything more than a microscopic amount of real truffle in this. How does Buldak sauce taste with truffle oil added? You’ll find out soon enough! I already filmed my review and will hopefully be releasing it the same week you see this post.

Samyang Sneaks Out New Tangle Flavors Too

Buldak isn’t the only Samyang product line that got an update in August. There are two new flavors available in the USA (that came out in South Korea a few months ago) and one flavor looks to have been discontinued. Now available in both packs and bowls, you’ll find Garlic Shrimp Pasta and Basil Tomato Pasta flavors. And despite still appearing in stock images, the Chunky Tomato Pasta flavor looks to have been discontinued – although as I write this, there are sites that still appear to have stock if you want to buy it before it disappears forever. Basil Tomato looks to be the spiritual successor to Chunky Tomato, but the recipes are a bit different. Garlic Shrimp apparently has some actual dehydrated shrimp in the pack, which is cool. As always, I’ll be on the lookout for these for review. I didn’t get around to reviewing the last Tangle (Creamy Mushroom, Chunky Tomato, and Garlic Oil) but maybe this will be the kick I need to get these in the queue soon.

Buldak Hits an Impressive Milestone

I know, I know, more Buldak news. This one’s pretty amazing though, and really drives home just how successful a product line Buldak has become. Samyang announced on August 21 that the Buldak product line has sold 10 billion packs over the course of the last 14 tears. It’s pretty common to see people hating on Buldak nowadays, but it’s an astonishing sales figure, and it regardless of your opinion on Buldak itself, remember that Buldak has created a gateway for people to discover the joy of spicy Korean noodles. Pretty amazing.

Nissin’s Chilled Cup Noodles Are a Hit

And speaking of sales figures, I found a pretty interesting article this month about the new Chilled Cup Noodles I covered last month and even reviewed. According to this article, both flavors sold out in a week! And this was despite Nissin expecting their initial supplies to last one or two months. That is an impressive sales feat, and I hope it means that we’re going to see more Cup Noodles using the cold water technology in the future – I really loved both flavors and would be ecstatic to see some more recipes in the future.

Maggi Expands Its UK Noodle Products

Finally this month, the love-them-or-hate-them parent company of Maggi, Nestle, announced that they will be releasing three new flavors to their UK noodle lineup: Tom Yum with Chilli, Beef and Lemongrass, and Soya Chicken with Mushroom. The press releases says that all three flavors should be available in UK stores already, so if anyone across the pond tries these flavors, I’d love to hear about them!
