Noodle Journey Supplemental Review: Ramen Toppers Black Garlic Chicken for Noodles

Notes since filming:

A little anecdote about the weekend I first published this video: There was a semi-regular viewer of mine who had left a few comments on my other videos here and there, and he decided to leave a comment on this video explaining why he would never sully his diet with dried toppings like this one. And of course that’s fine; everyone can choose what they want to eat even though there’s nothing inherently unnutritious about dried toppings such as these. But then he started attacking other people in the comments who are a fan of Ramen Toppers, and when they rightfully called him out for being a self-righteous asshole, he insisted that I was somehow manipulating the video comments so that everyone would gang up on him because he dared to insult this product. Folks, it was the strangest interaction I’ve ever seen on my channel, and it was one of the few times I had to immediately ban someone. I don’t care if someone insults me, my tastebuds, my opinions, or the subject of the review, but the second you start being an asshole to other members of my community, you’re gone.

Original video description:

I don’t think anything else like this exists on the market! This is a new variety from Ramen Toppers, Black Garlic Chicken for Noodles, containing actual dried pieces of marinated, grilled chicken meat with quality narutomaki fish cake and a hearty blend of vegetables. If you’re looking for something substantial to add to your instant ramen, you do not want to miss this review.

Noodle Journey Supplemental Review: Ramen Toppers Vegetable Mix for Noodles

After re-reviewing Ramen Toppers’ Chashu Pork, Fish Cake, and Vegetable Mix and awarding it a perfect score, I was excited to try their other major product: the Ramen Toppers Vegetable Mix for Noodles. This mix contains the same vegetables found in the Chashu blend – peas, corn, cabbage, carrots, and green onion – but without the meat or fish elements, making it completely vegan. Ramen Toppers sent me this canister at the same time as the Chashu sample so I could evaluate both.

Noodle Journey Supplement Re-Review: Ramen Toppers Chashu Pork, Fish Cake, & Vegetable Mix (2024)

I’m doing something I’ve never done before: a full re-review of a product that I didn’t love originally. Back in September 2023, I covered Ramen Toppers Chashu Pork, Fish Cake & Vegetable Mix and walked away unimpressed. I found the pork to be tough and flavorless, the vegetables pale and unappealing, and at nearly twenty-five dollars a jar, I couldn’t justify recommending it. Fast-forward nine months, and the company themselves reached out to me to say they’d completely overhauled the recipe and wanted me to give it another shot. I respect any business that takes constructive feedback seriously, so when they offered to send me the updated version, I said yes without hesitation. If you watch the video above, you can see a comparison of the old recipe’s contents to the new.

Note: This product underwent a drastic overhaul several months after I reviewed it and earned a much better score! Check out the updated review here.

I’m checking out another dried topping meant to dress up instant noodles, this time from a brand simply called Ramen Toppers. The thing that makes them unique among other dried topping manufacturers is clear: chashu pork and full-size narutomaki fish cake in the same jar, plus a pile of vegetables. It’s a neat idea if the proteins and textures hold up after rehydrating.
