Nongshim makes a few varieties of their massively popular Shin Ramyun in stir-fry form, and on today’s episode, I’ll break down the key differences between the newer American version and the South Korean version that’s been around for much longer.
Hey everyone, it’s time to get into the very first site-exclusive Noodle Journey review, with Maruchan Yakisoba Cheddar Cheese Flavor! If you’re confused about why this is a bunch of text with no video, check out the recent blog post explaining my decision to split up my reviews between the channel and this site.
Anyway… cheesy instant noodles. I think cheese may be the most divisive ingredient I’ve ever encountered in instant noodles (aside from all the stuff in the gimmick flavors out there). Here we have Maruchan combining a cheese sauce with their yakisoba noodles into what I’m imagining is going to be a glorified mac and cheese with minimal-to-no Asian flavors.
Here’s all the noteworthy noodle news for March 2025! This month we’ve got more Buldak discontinuation news, a new product line from Samyang, a farewell to yet another ramen subscription service, and a detailed breakdown of a couple of new ramen subscription services.
Do you love Nongshim Shin Ramyun but wish it was spicier? Shin Red and Shin “The Red” are both here to help! Check out the review for all the details as I compare these two super spicy flavors.
Today’s review starts my countdown to episode 200 featuring all Nongshim Shin products I have in my review queue! This first entry is a vegan version of the popular Shin Ramyun flavor.
If you made your way here from my YouTube channel, chances are you’ve wondered what else this site can do besides just providing a searchable index of all of my reviews. To that end, I’ve decided to take advantage of the medium that is WordPress and publish some reviews on here that won’t be featured on the YouTube channel.
Ramen Bae recently came out with this Ramen Hot Sauce, which looks suspiciously like a chili crisp despite the branding. Is this worth the $14 asking price? Check out this review for all the info.
Myojo’s doing some sort of 30th anniversary celebration this year, and as part of that celebration, they’ve brought back one of the most divisive yakisoba flavors ever made. Yes, this is a real product: Myojo Ippei-Chan Yakisoba Strawberry Shortcake flavor. If you want to know what this unholy combination of noodles and dessert tastes like, check out the video.
Scores:
Noodles: Ungraded. They’re really good on their own but absolutely terrible in this context.
A little anecdote about the weekend I first published this video: There was a semi-regular viewer of mine who had left a few comments on my other videos here and there, and he decided to leave a comment on this video explaining why he would never sully his diet with dried toppings like this one. And of course that’s fine; everyone can choose what they want to eat even though there’s nothing inherently unnutritious about dried toppings such as these. But then he started attacking other people in the comments who are a fan of Ramen Toppers, and when they rightfully called him out for being a self-righteous asshole, he insisted that I was somehow manipulating the video comments so that everyone would gang up on him because he dared to insult this product. Folks, it was the strangest interaction I’ve ever seen on my channel, and it was one of the few times I had to immediately ban someone. I don’t care if someone insults me, my tastebuds, my opinions, or the subject of the review, but the second you start being an asshole to other members of my community, you’re gone.

I don’t think anything else like this exists on the market! This is a new variety from Ramen Toppers, Black Garlic Chicken for Noodles, containing actual dried pieces of marinated, grilled chicken meat with quality narutomaki fish cake and a hearty blend of vegetables. If you’re looking for something substantial to add to your instant ramen, you do not want to miss this review.
